"This Officer has led his troops with marked ability and rendered valuable service in reconnaissance and patrol work. He has always displayted personal courage of a very high order. During the operations last August, Lieut. BROUGHTON was one of the officers selected for the patrols to MAGEIBRA, to observe the Turkish advance, the information gained was considered most accurate and valuable by the General Staff. At EL ABD he also displayed most conspicuous gallantry."
Particulars of a shooting fatality which occured at Glenlyon Station, 50 miles from Richmond, on the morning of 22nd January, were received by Inspector Carmody on Friday, from Acting Sergeant T Walsh, of Richmond. The victim was a returned soldier named David Blakeney Rhys Broughton, 32 years of age, and the circumstances appear to indicate suicide, he being found dead in the office of the station, with a Winchester rifle along side him.
