Biography contributed by Kathleen Bambridge

Andrew Clode soldier settler at RSL Wall sub branch was admitted to the Adelaide Hospital suffering from a gun shot wounds in his right arm. Mr Clode left wall in a boat with the intentionof duck shooting.  He apparently laid his gun along side him while moving the boat when the charge exploded entering the hand near the wrist and completely shattering his forearm.  Mr Hynes Manager of the Pompoota Training farm obtained medical assistance and conveyed the sufferer to Murray Bridge by motor launch and from their by train to Adelaide in late April 1920 it was not know if he would need to have it amputated.
