Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
William Edwin Cecil Morris was the son of William Albert and Lydia Morris. He was born at Nymboida, New South Wales but the family had moved to Hillgrove, which at the time was an active goldmining town, now just a village. He gave his occupation as an electric motor driver.
William only enlisted in June 1915, and was reported as missing in action at Gallipoli only two months later. The 18th Battalion made a charge that day and another soldier said he saw Morris fall only five yards after leaving the trench. His death was confirmed by a court of enquiry held during October 1915.
William was only 19 years of age. He left a will in favour of his mother. His personal effects returned to Australia consisted of a hair brush, shaving brush, some letters and photos.
