Samuel Henry SHEGOG was born in Launceston, Tasmania on 7th April, 1894

His parents were Samuel Edward SHEGOG & Alice Selina BADDLEY

He enlisted in Claremont, Tasmania on 11th August, 1915 and embarked from Melbourne with the 26th Infantry Battalion, 6th Reinforcements on the HMAT Ulysses on 27th October, 1915  - he was transferred to the 12th Infantry Battalion on 20th March, 1916

Samuel was Killed in Action in France on 24th July, 1916 - no known grave - his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial & the Villers Bretonneux Memorial

His brother Stanley Gordon SHEGOG (SN 4882) also served during WW1 and returned to Australia in 1919
