ROLL OF HONOR.
PRIVATE JAMES TAYLOR.
MONTEAGLE, Thursday.
Mrs. Mary Taylor, of Monteagle, was visited by the Kev. S. North (rector) on Tuesday with more bad news. This was to the effect that as a result of a special court of inquiry, he was found that her son - Private James Taylor, No. 1289, 18th Batallion, previously reported missing, was killed in action on the 22nd August, 1916. It Is feared that this statement is only too true for it was on the 22nd August 1915 that the 18th Battalion in their first charge wss burst up. The deceased soldier was 28 years of age when he enlisted, 2½years ago, and was very popular with all who knew him. He only left Egypt on the 15th August, and would take about 6 days to go to his destination where it is evident he met his untimely end. It is indeed a heavy blow to his relatives, losing two sons and brothers within a fortnight in the same battle and they will never know what really did happen them, for they were both reported missing 15 and 18 months before this sad news came.
