Military Medal

'During the 29th September and the night of 29th/30th September 1918 in the vicinity of BELLICOURT this N.C.O. carried wounded men back to the Wagon Loading Post for 36 hours without a break. He had to carry through heavy shell fire and through Gas and over most difficult country. His fine spirit endurance and leadership were responsible for a large number of American and Australian wounded men being carried from the battlefield.'
