Henry Stone the Soldier and Man
Henry Stone was born in Hertfordshire, England on 6th February, 1873.
Military Career (British)
Between 1895-1896 Henry Served in Ashanti, Central Africa, Egypt and India - 15th Field Battery RA, service number 68189. Henry participated in the Relief of Chitral (7 March 1895 - 15 August 1895), for which he received the 'India Medal'.
He also had 10 years with the Bedfordshire Regiment.
Henry and his family immigrated to Australia circa 1910.
World War 1
Henry enlisted from Brisbane on the 15th March 1915. Serving in the 9th
Infantry Battalion (Gallipoli and France). He was discharged from service 10th August 1917, returning to Australia.
In his civilian life Henry had many jobs including working as a labourer and seaman.
Henry died in Brisbane, 24th October 1953.
