Biography contributed by Jane Sykes

Thomas enlisted in the A.I.F. only weeks after war broke out, on 11 Sep 1914 and after training in Egypt took part in the Gallipoli landing. It was during this time that his first marriage broke down. He returned home, re-enlisting and heading for the Western Front in 1916.
