War Service/Promotion: He disembarked 15 December 1917, Suez, Egypt. Left Alexandria, Egypt, 5 January 1918 for Cherbourg, France. From there to Fovant, Wiltshire, England, on 24 January 1918, where he stayed in hospital until 15 May 1918. Left hospital for 5th Training Battalion, then on 6 October 1918 left England for Le Havre to join 21st Battalion in France. In December 1918 he was hospitalised for 10 days with influenza. Admitted to 6th Field Ambulance, then 7th General Hospital, St Omer, France, on 26 February 1919. He was transferred to England per St Andrew, 28 February 1919 to Bulford, Heytesbury, Wiltshire.
Fate: Returned to Australia per HT Khyber, 31 March 1919. He married Alice Gwyneth Penfold,
20 April 1932, St Thomas Church of England, North Sydney, NSW.
