Richard's parents were Ludwig Herman Kuhn and Jane Phelan. Richard enlisted 10 August 1916 at Brisbane. His occupation was a farmer. Richard is living with his father and some of his brothers at Mt Pleasant in 1925, his mother has passed away. He married Aileen Elizabeth Arthur at Brisbane in 1926, they eventually settled in New Farm.
