 "...6459 Pte, Harold Charles Kemp. Born and educated at Gympie. He is the son of George and Henrietta Kemp, of Caledonian Hill, Gympie. Enlisted October, 1916, and went into camp at Enoggera. Sailed from Sydney on 24th December, 1916, with the 18th Rein, of 26th Batttalion. Landed at Plymouth, England, in March, 1917, and left England for France in June, 1917. Went over the top, at Polygon Wood, on 20th September, also at Zonnebeke on October 4th, 1917, and was gassed on the 30th October, 1917, at Passchendaele Ridge. Sent from hospital in France to south of England, where he was marked unfit for further service. Left Plymouth for Australia March 10th, 1918, and arrived in Brisbane in May, and was discharged in June, 1918." - from Queenslanders Who Fought in the Great War
