Biography

"3869 Acting Corporal (A/Cpl) Keith Robert Douglas McFadyen, 19th Battalion. A grocer of Arncliffe, NSW, prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 9th Reinforcements on 20 January 1916 aboard HMAT Runic (A54). On 26 July 1916 A/Cpl McFadyen died of wounds received at Pozieres. He was aged 19 years." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)

Keith Robert Douglas McFADYEN was born in 1897 in Walcha, NSW

His parents were John McFADYEN and Mabel Mary DOUGLAS

He had previous service with the 38th Infantry, served in the German Internment Camp at  Holsworthy

He enlisted on 5th October 1915 with the 19th Battalion, 9th Reinforcements - Unit embarked from Sydney on HMAT Runic on 29th January 1916

Keith died of wounds on 26th July, 1916 aged 19 years - he is buried in Warloy Ballon Communal Cemetery Extension, France

His cousin George Robert McFADYEN was killed in action in 1917

McFADYEN - Private Keith R D McFadyen of Arncliffe, died of wounds July 25, 1916 aged 19 years and 6 months.
