Biography

Charles John Morris Known as "Jack" only son of Charles Secundus Ducker Morris and Annie Sophia Morris. He Was Born at Pennant Hills NSW in 1897. He enlisted on 11th November 1915 with written permission from his mother even though he was now the sole provider for his family as his father had passed away the previous year.

Private "Jack" Morris was part of the 13th Battalion,15th Reinforcement ( later to become part of 45th Battalion), embarked from Sydney NSW , on board HMAT A15 Star Of England on 8th March 1916.

He arrived in Egypt 11th April 1916 and remained there for 6 weeks and arrived in Marseilles on th 8th June 1916.

"jack" Charles John Morris was killed in action on the 6th August 1916 near the town of Pozieres on the Somme Northern France . No known grave exsist however his name appears on the Australian National Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux and The Australian War Memorial Roll of Honour Canberra panel 140 45th Battalion.
