Hon Capt - QM Laurence Cadell

Lawrence CADELL (100) was a 26 year old single stock and station agent who enlisted in Liverpool, New South Wales on 8 October 1914. He was born in Gladstone, Queensland and listed as his next of kin, M. Cadell, Quirindi, New South Wales. He embarked from Sydney, New South Wales, on board Transport A29 Suevic on 21 December 1914 as a Trooper of the 6th Lighthorse, A Squadron. He was promoted to Sergeant and later transferred to the 49th Battalion in August 1916. In August 1916 he was promoted to Lieutenant and later in August 1917 to Captain. He was recommended for an Award because of his actions in October 1917 (Document 3) This does not seem to have been approved. He was again recommended for an Award because of his actions in 1918 (Documents 4 and 5).
