Corporal Frank Hawtin was awarded the Italian Bronze Medal for Military Valour by the King of Italy during the lead up to the Battle of Messines near the village of Voormazeele Frank was attending to some exposed power cables when he was badly wounded by shellfire, he later died of his wounds and now rests in La Clytte Military Cemetery in Reninghelst, Belgium.
