Son of Thomas Quinlan and Johannah Quinlan nee Dark of Cardigan Street, Carlton, Victoria. Brother of William Kerby Quinlan who was killed in action on 18 August 1916 while serving with the 8th Battalion and has no known grave. His name appears on the Villers Bretonneux Memorial
