Alwyn Adam Thomson Pringle

* Alwyn Adam Thomson Pringle had a father named Lieutenant Colonel V.D Pringle who lived in Rooty Hill.

*Before enlisting Alwyn Adam Thomson Pringle was a grazier who grew fodder crops and bred sheep,cattle and horses.He learned wool classing at Sydney Technical College while working at the Raine and Horne office in Pitt Street.

*Alwyn Adam Thomson Pringle enlisted at the age of 23 in Marrickville N.S.W on the 4th of January 1916 and left Sydney on the HMAT 'Borda' A30 on the 5th of June in 1916.

*Sadly Alwyn Adam Thomson Pringle died at Spoil Bank near Ypres Belgium in action by the Germans when he was carrying ammunition.A fellow soldier was with Alwyn when he died and wrote to his father telling him that the was killed by a bullet below the heart and he was killed instantly.

"...17124 Gunner Alwyn Adam Thomson Pringle, 1st Field Artillery Brigade. A grazier from Rooty Hill, NSW prior to enlistment, Gnr Pringle embarked with the 17th Reinforcements from Sydney on HMAT Borda on 5 June 1916.On 29 July 1917 while serving with 105 Howitzer Battery, he was killed in action, aged 24, and was buried in the Dickebusch New Military Cemetery Extension, Belgium." - SOURCE (www.awm.gov.au)
