On the 30th August 1935, Private Thomas William Eyeington, 45th Battalion (Reg No-4533), miner from Corrimal, New South Wales and Gunnedah?, N.S.W., died at the Gunnedah Hospital, N.S.W., age 39 or 40. Burial date unknown at the Gunnedah Historical Cemetery, N.S.W. O Ang, Y.

Tom enlisted on the 13th November 1916 with the 30th Battalion, stated age 21 years, at Kiama, N.S.W.

Unit embarked from Sydney, New South Wales on board HMAT A72 Beltana on the 25th November 1916.
Disembarked Devonport, England 29.1.1917.

Proceeded O/Seas to France from Southampton, England 19.6.1917.

Taken on Strength 45th Battalion 9.7.1917.

Granted leave to England from 26.7.1918 to 13.8.1918 and 17.3.1919 to 4.4.1919.

Commenced return to Australia with wife Milly 8.8.1919.

Tom arrived home with Milly on the 25th September 1919, being discharged on the 9th November 1919.

Not officially commemorated.

Tom’s name has been inscribed on the Minmi Roll of Honour as EYSINGTON.

I would like to see poppies placed at Tom’s plaque in remembrance of his service and sacrifice for God, King & Country.
