Biography contributed by Kathleen Emms

Harry Norman WILSON (registered as Henry Norman) was born at Sheaoak Log, the eighth child and fourth son of James and Harriet (WEBB) WILSON.  The family moved to Mount Crawford, via Williamstown, in the 1870s.

By the time Harry enlisted, he was married to Harriet (HILL) and had six children aged from 21 to 10 but he only admitted to 3 children on his form.  He also gave his age as 45, the limit for enlistment but he was almost 48 years old.

By November 1916, Harry's medical conditions became apparent, particularly a leg and hip injury.  He could not march as his left leg was longer that his right leg and he had previously suffered from pneumonia and phlebitis.

He was returned to South Australia and discharged as medically unfit on 8th August, 1917.

He died at Gawler, 1949 and is buried in the Williamstown Cemetery.
