Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
It was reported in the newspapers of the day that Private Leonard James Waldron, aged 22 was the second son of Mrs. E. Waldron, 10 Cambridge street, Collingwood. His father, who died in August 1914, was an employee of the Collingwood City Council. Private Waldron enlisted in Ballarat, and was apparently a stretcher-bearer in the 8th Battalion at the front. He played with the Williamstown Football Club up to the time he left Melbourne for the war. According to his service file he was officially listed as having been killed between 25/29 April 1915 and buried close to the beach of the landing. His remains were never found after the war.
