Biography

"THE LATE PRIVATE A. J. WILLIAMSON.

Mrs. George Foster, Carlisle-street, Glanville, has received notification of the death of her eldest brother, Private Alfred James Williamson, who died of wounds received at the Dardanelles on August 6. Private Williamson was born at Port Augusta where his father, Mr. James Williamson still resides. Prior to enlistment he had resided at Port Adelaide 17 years, where he enjoyed the esteem of many friends. He was of a quiet and generous nature. He enlisted in January and served with the 5th Reinforcements to the 12th Battalion. A younger brother, Edwin Lionel, is now in camp at the Jubilee Oval." - from the Adelaide Chronicle 18 Sep 1915 (nla.gov.au)
