Audley Bernard Clifford DENNIS was born on 4th July, 1895 in Perth, Tasmania

His parents were Isaac DENNIS and Elizabeth Hannah POLLEY

He had previous service of 1 year in the Senior Cadets with the 92nd Infantry before he enlisted in Brighton, Tasmania on 31st August, 1914  - he embarked from Hobart on 20th October, 1914 with the 12th Infantry Battalion on the HMAT Geelong

He was wounded twice in 1915 and was listed as Missing in Action on 4th September, 1916 and later reported as Killed in Action

Audley was hit by a shell on 4th September, 1916 at Moquet Farm and buried in the field - his grave was unknown at the time but later his body was found and exhumed and reburied in the London Cemetery Extension , Longueval, France - he was identified by his dog tag.

He is also memorialised at the Australian War Memorial and has a memorial headstone in Perth Cemetery in Tasmania 

He was awarded the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal & Victory Medal
