Biography

Martin was killed on the 14th June 1917 at Souvenir Ammunition Dump near Messines when it was hit by enemy shelling.

The 110th Howitzer Battery (part of the 10th Field Artillery Brigade (/explore/units/324), 4th Division Artillery) had a fatigue party working on the dump at time. Every man became a causality and consequently 18 were killed and 8 wounded.
