Add my storyBiography
"Private Alexander Shearer, son of Mr. George A. Shearer, dairyman, of Warrenheip, was killed in action on July 19th. He was a member of the machine-gun section of the 15th Brigade. Prior to enlisting a year ago he was employed at the Geelong Harbor Trust, and was a leading member of the band, playing at the South-street competitions at Ballarat each year. He was 25 years of age, and is the first soldier from Warrenheip to be killed in action." - from the Geelong Advertiser 26 Aug 1916 (nla.gov.au)
