18 Jun 1917: | Honoured Military Medal, Bullecourt (First), Is brought to notice for his gallantry and devotion to duty on the morning of the 11th of April 1917 in the attack on the HINDENBURG Line before REINCOURT. All but one of the Officers in his Company became casualties early in the fight and his great gallantry in reorganising his Platoon, leading bombing attacks and directing the fire of Lewis Guns with a complete disregard for his own personal safety did much to inspire confidence in the men under his command and went [far?] towards enabling them to remain in an impossible position for so long. He is recommended for distinction. | |
