Biography contributed by John Edwards

"Another Parkes boy, Roy Pugsley, was reported "missing" a little while, ago, and no further tidings have since been received of him." - from the Forbes Advocate 17 Dec 1915 (nla.gov.au)

Biography contributed by Sylvia Lasker

Roy [William] was my mother's brother therefore he would have been my uncle.  I did not have the privilige of knowing him, however, I am fortunate enough to have in my possesssion the letters he wrote home along with the letters that the family wrote to him.  I'm sorry to say that I do not have his last letter home which I believe was probably buried with my Grandfather who passed away a few short years after Roy's death.  That letter was dated four days after Roy's reported death.  I also have two letters written by soldiers who were with him at the time  who tell details of the battle on the 26th August and both say that Roy was with them.  My grandfather as a result of these letters could not give up hope that maybe he would be found.

I was not fortunate enough to know either Roy or my Grandfather but through these letters I feel that I do know them and hope that they are together again.

With much gratitude and love

Rhonda
