Son of George Frederick Norman and Maria Norman nee Hill of Sunderland England.

Husband of Ethel Maude Vincent nee Jolly of  'Antwicks', Glengarry, West Tamar, Tasmania. Norman and Ethel married in St. Paul's Church Launceston, Tasmania on 18 December 1912 they later divorced in 1939c in Tasmania

Commenced return to Australia on 1 August 1919 aboard HT Argyllshire disembarking on 22 September 1919 at Melbourne for onward travel to Hobart
