Taking his son's place after his death

George Parkman Debnam's father George Arthur Debnam felt he must take George's place in the same regiment after he died of wounds inflicted on him at Gallipolli. Although George Arthur was 53 years old at the time, he served with the 10th Light Horsemen in Egypt, taking the place of his son who died as a result of wounds received in Gallipolli. George senior died in 1948 in Perth, Western Australia.
George snr had 8 children.
