Belgiun Croix de Guerre
On the 5th June 1917, just prior to MESSINES operations it was essential that daylight raids should be carried out on the enemy. Lance-Sergeant BESWETHERICK volunteered for the work and in face of heavy fire succeeded in penetrating enemy positions, killing several of the enemy and bringing back identification and valuable information.
This N.C.O. has done excellent work and proved most reliable during subsequent operations in BELGIUM in 1917 and also during recent operations in 1918
