Born to William Richard Berry (1860-1917) and Alice Berry (Langmaid) (1868-1926)

He had 6 full and 4 half siblings. His brother Robert saw action in WW2.  

Lot married in 1919 to Eugenia Meaghan, and had 8 children with her, Marjorie, Beryl, Valerie, Edna, Raymond, William (Bill), Eugenie, and Victor. Bill drowned in Cornelian Bay in 1948.

Lot was a noteworthy poultry farmer in the Glenorchy-Fentonbury area after the war.
