Son of William James Hetherton and Florence Ruth Hetherton nee Dalton of Coronation Street, West Footscray, Victoria. Brother of Henry William Hetherton, Albert Bert (Bertie) Hetherton who returned to Australia on 29 July 1915 having served with the 14th Battalion and David Samuel Hetherton
