Son of William Hugo and Elizabeth Ivy Hugo nee Parsons of New Tunnel, Wallsend, NSW. Brother of Albert Victor Hugo sho returned to Australia on 2 Septmeber 1915 having served with the 3rd Battalion.
Commenced return to Australia on 23 July 1919 aboard HT Suevic disembarking on 10 September 1919
