William was born in Rainham, England on 12 Oct 1894, son of William George Sellen and Cordelia French. He enlisted 27 Sep 1915 in Townsville aged 21,

Driver Sellen served on the Western Front with the 3rd Field Artillery Brigade.

He married Dorothy Ellen Mullin on 13 Feb 1926.

He died on 26 Aug 1943 in Maryborough. He was labourer and yardman.
