Son of William Henry Verran and Emma Jane Verran nee Russell of Philipson Road, Charters Towers, QLD.
Brother of Edwin Verran who was killed in action on 21 September 1917 while serving with the 25th Battalion and has no known grave. His name appears on Panel 23 of Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres.
Commenced return to Australia on 2 June 1919 aboard HT Beltana disembarking on 19 July 1919
