His younger brother 4631 Private Francis Henry Young 51st Battalion AIF was killed in action 3 September 1916, aged 20.

Their parents were William Young and Mrs. Amelia Law Young, 33 Charles St. Maylands WA. The father died in 1917 and mother Amelia in 1921.
