Son of Robert and Alice Cawthron of 55 Mount Pleasant Lane, Upper Clapton, England

Brother of Thomas William Cawthron who died of wounds on 19 September 1918 while serving with the 1st Machine Gun Battalion. Buried in the La Chapellette British and Indian Cemetery, Peronne, Plot 111, Row F, Grave 7 and Robert John Cawthron who was invalided back to Australia on 10 December 1918 having served with the 1st Tunnelling Company

Medals: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

Also served with the Australian Rifles for 3 years
