It was reported in the Cooma Advertiser that Robert Goodwin was one of the first to offer his services for the war, and was well known in the district. He served at the Anzac Landing and was wounded during July 1915.
His brother 2829 Corporal Kenneth Goodwin also served in the AIF and was recommended for an award during late 1918 when attached to American forces.
They were the sons of William Henry and Isabelle Goodwin, of Cooma, NSW. Robert’s headstone reads, ‘In memory of dear Bob, Son of Mr. & Mrs. W.H. Goodwin, Cooma, NSW.
