13 Feb 1915: Embarked Private, 1542, 9th Infantry Battalion, HMAT Seang Choon, Brisbane
2 Jul 1916: Wounded AIF WW1, Private, 1542, 9th Infantry Battalion, Wounded in action in France on July 2, 1916 (with a severe shrapnel wound, from a bomb, on his left thigh). Owen was repatriated to England on July 3, 1916 (to Shornecliffe War Hospital).
19 Jul 1916: Transferred Private, 6th Light Horse Regiment, Transferred to the 6th Light Horse Regiment on July 19, 1916. And then was sent as a reinforcement to the 9th Battalion (September 10, 1916) rejoining the 6th Light Horse on September 23, 1916.
17 May 1917: Wounded Private, Wounded a second time in France on May 17, 1917 (in his right arm). Rejoined his unit on June 18, 1917.
12 Apr 1919: Discharged AIF WW1, 1542, Returned to Australia on the Burma December 14, 1918. And discharged from the AIF on April 12, 1919.
