Maldwyn Leslie WILLIAMS was born ion 9th September, 1886 in Castlemaine, Victoria

His parents were Edwin David WILLIAMS and Jane JONES

He married Margaret GRANT in Victoria in 1913 - two daughters, Margaret Ruth & Marie Helen

MALDWYN LESLIE WILLIAMS who died in France on 3rd March 1917 was the younger son of the late Mr. E. D. Williams of Castlemaine. He was born in 1886 and was at the School in 1903. He was in the football team in that year and later gained his Blue for football at the Melbourne University, and also took part in inter-collegiate contests for Trinity College during his residence there from 1904 to 1908. He won a scholarship at Trinity and had a distinguished University record. He took firstclass honors in Chemistry in his first year, 1904, and second class in Medicine and Surgery at the final examination. He graduated M.B. 1908 and Ch.B 1909.

He had been practising at Bendigo for some years in partnership with another old Trinity man. He had long taken an interest in military matters,. being appointed to a commission in the A.A.M.C. Reserve with the rank of Captain in 1909. He enlisted on 10th August 1915 and had done much good work as Major in the 8th Field Ambulance, from which he was on 30th October 1916 transferred to the 1st Field Ambulance and promoted to Lieut.-Colonel. He was Mentioned in Sir D. Haig's Despatches of 9th April 1917, but previously had received wounds in the performance of his duty which resulted in his death.

He was buried near Albert.
