Stanley GRATTIDGE was born in Carlton Victoria in 1898

His parents were Richard GRATTIDGE & Mary BROADBENT

He married Amy GLEDHILL in Victoria in 1923

He enlisted in Melbourne on 12th July, 1915 & embarked with the 8th Infantry Battalion, 10th reinforcements from Adelaide on the HMAT Osterley on 29th September, 1915

He returned to Australia on 28th February, 1919 and was discharged on 9th June 1919

Stanley died in Preston, Victoria in 1973 and was cremated at Fawkner Memorial Park - ashes scattered

He was awarded the Military Medal on 17th August, 1918 (see AIF Project link for further details)

1. Leslie GRATTIDGE (SN 4427) - Killed in Action on 6th January, 1917

2. Edward George GRATTIDGE (SN 2151) - returned to Australia in 1918 and also served during WW2 (SN V16482) & (SN V91235)
