Douglas Harold Rygate FERGUSON was born in 1894 in Wellington, NSW
His parents were Alexander William Bell FERGUSON and Adelaide Hannah PHILLIPS who married in 1874 in Molong, NSW
He enlisted in Liverpool on 28th January 1915 and embarked with the 13th Battalion, 3rd Reinforcements from Sydney on the HMAT Seang Choon on 11th February, 1915
Douglas was Killed in Action on 23rd April, 1917 in France and is buried in the Escoust Military Cemetery in France
His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial and he was awarded the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal & the Victory Medal.

His brother Allan Patrick FERGUSON (SN1086) also served in WW1 and returned to Australia in 1919
