GUY ALEXANDER JOHNSTON was born at Frederickton, New South Wales, on 15th December, 1890, the son of Mr. William Alexander Johnston and Mrs. Agnes Mary Johnston. He was educated at the North Sydney Grammar School.

He joined the Bank’s staff at Lismore, New South Wales, on 27th January, 1909; was transferred to Moree in July, 1909; to Walgett in August, 1910, where in the following July he was appointed ledger-keeper; thence to Coolah, as teller, in June, 1914; to Collarenebri in May, 1915; and to Wellington, New South Wales, in August, 1916.

Guy Johnston enlisted on 16th February, 1917, as gunner in the 29th Artillery Reinforcements and went to France. He was in action there on the 8th August, 1918, when he was killed. His body was buried in the French Military Cemetery at Cerisy Gailly.
