Biography contributed by Faithe Jones
Private O. V. BROOKS, eldest surviving son of Mr. T. Brooks, of Glencoe West, has been killed in action in France. He enlisted early in 1916, and was attached to the 43rd Battalion. He went through much hard fighting on the western front. He was severely gassed, but after some months in hospital in England he returned to his unit. Private Brooks was highly respected, throughout the Glencoe district. He was 19 years of age. His brother, Gordon, who enlisted with him, was invalided home last year and died a few months ago.
