Prior to enlisting, Corporal George William Barnett, who died of 
wounds in France, on June 11, was a police constable, and had been
stationed at, St. Kilda, road for about 12 months. Corporal Barnett joined the Field Artillery, and served 12 months in Egypt. At his own request he was transferred to the 25th Howitzer Brigade. His mother lives at 28 Mayfield street, East St. Kilda.
