Frank was the fourth of seven children born to William James Turner (born in Nile, Tasmania) and Ju;ia Ann Antone (born in Morven, Tasmania). Brothers Benjamin William (40th Battalion, 2nd Lietenant, SN: 2273); Norman Joseph (26th Battalion, Private, SN: 974); and Edgar Albert (27/12th Battalion; Private; SN: 8072) also served in the AIF in WWI
Frank married Elizabeth Jane Heale in Rockhampton QLD in 1915 - they were both Salvation Army Officers, and Frank was in Rockhampton when he enlisted in the AIF in 1916.
After his Discharge in 1918, Frank and Elizabeth continued their work with the Salvation Army - in Rockhampton and brisbane, QLD, and in Sydney NSW
Frank retired to Brookfirld in Brisbane, QLD following Elizabeth's death in Marrickville NSW in 1974, and was buried with her following his death in 1988
