He was 36 and the son of James and Elizabeth Babbage and husband of Beatrice McBain Babbage of Aeawata, Victoria, Australia.
His brother fell while serving with British forces- he was Private Gilbert Pridham Babbage of the 1st Battalion, the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry-died 21 August 1918 aged 24.
Both are honoured on the BURRINGTON - WORLD WAR 1 BRASS MEMORIAL in the Church of All Saints.

Sergeant Lionel William Loveband of the 6th Light Horse Regiment is also commemorated on the Burrington War Memorial. He too was one two bothers who fell.
