Nicholas Jas. M.Ditchburn-"Nobbo," to his many friends-reported missing after the Pozieres fight, is now oflicially recorded as killed in action. Pte. Ditchburn was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Ditchburn, of Essex street, Yarraville, 32 years of age, and a native of Yarraville. He joined the 7th Battalion, C. Coy., in October, 1915, and saw the finish of the Gallipoli adventure. Thence he moved to France, and fell in the first charge on the historic 27th of July. Prior to enlistment, he worked at the North Melbourne Railway Shops, being attached to the break-down gang. His brother, Pte. Will, was badly "gassed" in the same fight as "Nobbo," and is making a slow recovery in England.
