Memorial
In sad but loving memory of my dearly beloved son Neddy,
Who died of wounds on Hospital Ship "Delta" on 9 August 1915 – buried at sea.
His country called, and honour bade him go,
To battle against a grim and deadly foe.
He helped to bring Australia into fame.
To build for her a never-dying name.
Foremost was he in the thickest strife
For King and country laid he down his life.
And fell a hero in the deadly strife.
He fell like a hero at the Dardanelles
His life for his country he gave.
his loving mother…. Martha Ellen Fardell
No one he loved was by his side, to hear his last faint sigh,
Or whisper just one loving word before he closed his eyes
He bade no one his last goodbye, he waved his hand to none;
His spirit fled before we knew that from us he had gone.
No one he loved was by his side, to hear his last faint sigh,
Or whisper just one loving word before he closed his eyes
He bade no one his last goodbye, he waved his hand to none;
His loving sisters ….. May, Grace & Ada
His spirit fled before we knew that from us he had gone.
There are many will remember and miss him, though only a private, that's all.
His loving younger brothers ….. Claude & Aubrey
