George Roy Willcocks, was born in Gawler, South Australia, Australia on 4 Jun 1896, to George Willcocks and Annie Rose Cecilia Window (mother and father). George's religion was Baptist.
Willcocks grew to take up the occupation of a labourer and continued to do so until 11th of April 1916 (age 19 years and 9 months) when he signed up/ was enlisted in the 32nd battalion to fight in World War I. The details of him on this date were as written : “5ft4, 125lbs, chest 36 ½ inches, dark complexion and brown eyes & hair.” When enlisted he was ranked as private (PTE) and his periods of service in this rank were as follows “7.4.1916 – 24.4.1916 / 25.4.1916 – 30.4.1916 / 1.5.1916 – 15.5.1916 / 16.5.1916 - ?”
Willcocks’ Unit embarked from Adelaide, South Australia, on board HMAT A57 Malakuta on 27 June 1916. Fortunately George Roy’s final status was discharged and RTA (Returned to Australia) with signs of injury on his right knee. This was due to a wound receied on 17 May 1917. He proceeded on with his life and ended up having 3 children Ronald Roy Willcocks, Doreen May Willcocks, Glenise Raylee Willcocks. George received 2 medals from his time in service, British War Medal, Victory Medal.
George proceeded to meet his death on the 9th of Jul 1965 in Port Pirie, South Australia, Australia from unknown causes.
