OBITUARY
LATE MR. DON CHILCOTT
Former Ringarooma Resident The death of Mr. Donald Tasman Chilcott, of Parker Street, Penrith, in Royal Prince Alfred Hospital on April 24, is deeply regretted by numerous friends in the district, and by none more so than many of his comrades among ex-service-men. His affable and generous disposition made his companionship much appreciated. As previously reported, Mr. Chilcott suffered severe injury in a collision between a bicycle he was riding and a car driven along High Street, Penrith on Friday April 16. After a stay in Nepean District Hospital he was transferred to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for special treatment, but the case was beyond human aid.
Deceased, who was 52 years of age, was born at Ringarooma, Tasmania, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Chilcott. He spent his youthful days at Mole Creek, Tasmania, and in World War I enlisted in the 12th Battalion, He was at the landing of Gallipoli in 1915 and lost an arm at Lone Pine. After being in hospital in England he returned to Australia in 1916. For nine years Mr. Chilcott was in a Government department in Tasmania. He came to
N.S.W. in 1930 and had lived in Penrith for many years. He was twice married, his second wife, nee Edith May Hollier, daughter of Mr. Tom Hollier and the late Mrs. Hollier, of Penrith, surviving him. He also leaves a son, Donald Walter, of the first marriage, four grandchildren, and the undermentioned two brothers and three sisters, who are in Tasmania: George (Westbury), Walter (Mole Creek), Mabel (Mrs. Stingel, Alberton), Effie (Mrs. W. Meredith, Derby), and Winnie (Mrs. Westbrook, Cressy).
The funeral took place on Wednesday, April 26. A service was conducted in Penrith Methodist Church by the Rev. L.  E. Brooks, who afterward officiated at the graveside in Penrith general cemetery.
